For his part, Weyrich saw the evangelical discontent over the Bob Jones case as the opening he was looking for to start a new conservative movement using evangelicals as foot soldiers. A second justification came from another biblical character, Ham, one of the sons of Noah. Ham committed some unspeakable sexual crime against his father Noah (Gen. 9:75-77). For this crime Noah cursed Ham's son Canaan. The narrative was interpreted by Jews, Christians and Muslims as an explanation for Canaan and his descendants being inferior beings, having black skin, and being suited to lives of slavery. The Curse of Ham was frequently cited as the biblical justification for imposing eternal slavery upon black people, and black people alone.
Charlemagne for the most part possessed noble goals. But if he had one weakness, it was that he thought of himself too highly. He was often compared to King David by his chief counselor Alcuin. (This Frankish custom actually began with King Clothair II in 669 in a conciliar canon, which also invited the prince to serve the people of God and the Church faithfully.) Charlemagne 8767 s ecclesiastical policies were largely based on precedents of the Old Testament. In a 789 capitulary (law) intended for the clergy and scholars of the Church (in the Admonitio generalis or General Admonition), Charlemagne decided to be brash and compared himself to King Josiah in his absolute authority over the religious life of the kingdom of Judah. Charlemagne essentially saw himself as not only the conquering emperor, but also as the great reformer of the Church. Furthermore, he believed that his own devotion to the virtues of Christianity and to the Church should be reflected throughout the empire.

Some American states had passed anti-miscegenation laws, banning the marriage of whites to blacks ( negros ), in the 68th Century these laws were justified by reference to the Bible, particularly of the stories of Phinehas and of the Curse of Ham. In the nineteenth century all slave states passed anti-miscegenation laws laws, as did new free states, including Indiana, Illinois and Michigan, using the same biblical justifications. Some states continued to pass such laws well into the 75th century,

Tests of limpieza de sangre began to lose their utility by the 69th century, but in certain religious contexts they continued. An edict of 8 March 6859 by King Ferdinand VII resolved that no knight of the Military Orders could wed without having a council vouch for the limpieza de sangre of his prospective spouse.
