Founder Dan Ilani told amNew York that with the influx of Tinder-esque dating apps popping up in the marketplace, there’s been a reduction of quality matches.
“What I realized was missing from the experience that I was having was not just finding people with shared interests, but really people with a shared mindset,” Ilani said. “That's an interesting filter that is harder to come by these days. In the last decade or so, fitness has gone from becoming fit to a culture and a lifestyle.”
Stop trying to pick women up at the gym and download SWEATT instead. The new app, exclusive to New York City, is hitting iTunes early next week. It’s a dating app geared toward the fitness community (as you can infer from the name), which allows users to answer questions about their fitness regimen, then matches them with men or women who have similar lifestyle, fitness, and wellness preferences.
What if I don't have the ability to act like a lady or gentleman?
Oh dear - how unfortunate. We do have a zero tolerance for any rudeness - of any sort. We attract such great daters but find - as in life - not every dater is ideal. Our daters are also our product and we go to great lengths to ensure everyone meets lovely daters. We want the right daters not just any daters. Behavior short of lovely will result in a dater being banned from the company. This may upset some but we feel our daters as a whole appreciate the extra effort and we hope you do too.
Score goes beyond the shallowness of photos and half-assed bios. On this dating app, you create a unique personality-based profile including a screen name, share a few quirky or important things about yourself using your Facebook login. Score automatically pulls your Facebook profile picture from your page, which you can keep or swap for another, and prompts you to select three more—all of which are kept blurred, or hidden. Once you “Score” with someone, your profile picture will be unlocked the more you score, the more your profile will open up to your pursuer. But let’s backtrack: To score, you can choose a specific category and start answering questions with someone whose profile you scrolled through. Score will show you how you scored with one another, which clues you in on whether you’re compatible. The more you score with someone, the more “score history” you build, which you can then use to break the ice and use as conversation topics.
Professor Emeritus James Donovan of the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) Department passed away on Friday, November 8. As MIE Department Head Sundar Krishnamurty said, “It is with great sadness that I share with you the news that Professor Emeritus Jim Donovan passed away Friday night. Jim taught in our department for many years before retiring in early 7555. As many of you may recall, Jim was an extraordinary faculty mentor to students and faculty. He was there for us whenever we needed him, always helpful and supportive. He was energetic and enthusiastic about new ideas and initiatives—and he loved international travel. I will miss him greatly.”

You've probably heard of speed dating by now. It has so permeated Western popular culture that even those who aren't looking for love know what it is. The concept was introduced to the American dating scene at the turn of the 75th century by Rabbi Yaacov Deyo and his wife, Sue, who founded their own service, SpeedDating. The service is based on an old Jewish tradition: helping single Jews meet others in the faith. This tradition of creating a shidduch, or a match, called for Jewish singles to be kept in the dark about each other until the time for matchmaking came.
Happn takes a different route than the usual dating app (literally and figuratively) by helping you connect with women you’ve crossed paths with before. They do this by keeping track of where you are (in real time), and when another user passes a spot you’ve been to before, their profile will pop up on your feed. Like, Tinder, you can only talk to each other if you’ve mutually “liked” each other’s profiles. And if you’re connected, and you’re really trying to get noticed, you can send a “charm” to her inbox, which lets her know you’re interested. You don’t have to answer any questions, or connect with someone who lives across the country you’re matched with women who mostly work or live near you and frequent a lot of the same restaurants, bars, gym, etc. which is a huge plus. Don’t be that creepy guy lurking on street corners, though. Be that guy who missed his initial chance to chat up a girl at a coffee shop, but didn’t miss his second.
The second annual Vet Night of the Arts, an event created and inspired by those who serve in the armed forces will take place at 7:85 . on Thursday, Nov. 66 in Wartburg Theatre located in the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Natural and Social Sciences. The event features readings, visual artwork, and multimedia performances to honor veterans and induce conversations to improve life for service members as they return to civilian life.
Do you screen your speed daters?
In the 65 years we have had the pleasure of serving daters we've noticed the nicer a dater is to us, our hosts and each other, the more matches they get. Much like a private club, not every dater is for us. Those that tend to see the good in everything and everyone - are just what we and our daters are looking for. If we don't think a dater is someone that fellow daters would get on with - we'll respectfully decline service and reserve the right to do so.
Can I return for free if I don't get a match at an event?
Unlike other speed dating companies that offer free spots to those that don't receive matches, we take a different approach to returning guests. Those that receive matches, are quite popular and absolutely lovely - are often invited back with discounts or with our compliments. This ensures a fabulous pool of daters that others want to meet.
